Twillingate-Day 9-June 9, 2021

This town…

Man, this town and the surrounding area, just stunningly beautiful.

It’s exceeded my expectations, it’s also left me a little perplexed lol…

My intention was to come out there and continue my work towards abandoned and forgotten places. There’s an issue though, there is hardly anything abandoned or forgotten. Even the homes and buildings that have seen better days are achingly well tended and looked after. Every structure I’ve seen to date has been on groomed grounds and tidy….

On the one hand, this is stressing me out, it’s taking away my subject matter man!

On the other hand, hats off to the folks in this area, they have stepped up to take care of many of these old places. Heck, even the place I am in, as beautiful as it is inside, was pulled back from the brink, taking a building that was without purpose and giving it one. That’s amazing and what it should be all about, and I am here for it all day long…

Still leaves me a little thematically challenged however.

So, I am once again reaching out to you, my new friends, my old friends.

Where are the places I am missing, who owns an old house that will open the doors for me, who has a shed or a shop that hasn’t been opened in years, who knows where there is an old boat, an old car, an old stage that is on its last legs.

Could you please let me know? I would really appreciate any places you might suggest.

Hey, don’t get me wrong, there is a wealth of subjects to shoot here. I have plans to shoot many of the Root Cellars in different light, I have several night shoots in mind, I have some structures that I have identified. I will arrange to get into many of the Heritage buildings for interior shots and detail work. There is no end to the things I can shoot, and will shoot, I just want to shoot MY stuff as well lol…

On that note, who knows how I can get into the Church in Hillgrade as well as the hall on the main road in the same town? I would dearly love to get into those buildings.

As an example of the respect and dignity I give those spaces, here are some of the photos I took of the deconsecrated Anglican Church in Kings Cove, it will also give you an indication as to why I love those spaces…

These places and spaces are so full of spirit and emotion.

I’m sure there are treasures like these just waiting for me here, please, let me know if you have one you want to share!

So, this morning I got up fairly early and headed out to Tizzards Harbour area. Scouted lots of potentials out there, but was also delighted to see restoration taking place with multiple properties. It DOES do a heart good.

Here’s a sample of some of the things I saw today, nothing too fancy or groundbreaking here folks, just some quality photos of some very nice places.

Tomorrow is calling for a shift in the weather, it will be very nice to get some different light working here. I may revisit some of the sites I previously scouted and try some different things.

Oh, one last thing, well, a couple really. If you see any photo that I post that you are interested in purchasing thats NOT currently on my shop, please, let me know, I will add it ASAP!

And lastly, you folks have been enjoying the little videos I have been posting, so here’s one from today. I am thinking of holding off on posting any videos on social media till AFTER I do my blog, give you folks something fresh each day when you visit here.

Let me know what you think?

Here’s my office, which is better than your office lol…

Till tomorrow folks!

Thanks for joining me on this journey!

Don’t forget, if you love the work, think about purchasing a piece or buying a coffee I have lots of klicks to cover this summer, and your support was never more appreciated.
